Dacha Longlisted in Dezeen Awards 2024

By Iana Dashkovska | Project Leader

Dear friends,

Thank you for helping make Family House Dacha a reality for children in Ukraine!

When we set out to build a home for critically ill children and their families, our goal was to create a beautiful, comforting space where families could feel safe and cared for during some of the most difficult times in their lives. To bring this vision to life, we partnered with Ukraine’s top architects and designers, who donated their time and expertise to this vital project.

Despite the delays caused by the war, we proudly inaugurated the Dacha in October 2023. Since then, it has become a home away from home for 105 children from across Ukraine who are undergoing treatment in Kyiv, allowing them to stay together with their families.

Today, we are happy to announce that Dacha has been longlisted in the health and well-being interior category of the Dezeen Awards 2024—one of the world’s most prestigious honors in design and architecture. The judges described Dacha with the following words:

"Dacha welcomes guests with simplicity and functionality. The neat meeting room and bright office showcase a dominant palette of white and terracotta, evoking purity and nobility, with sunny yellow accents in the children’s areas."

We believe that children deserve the best, and seeing their joyful reactions when they first step into the bright and colorful Dacha reaffirms the importance of this special place. Thank you for standing with Ukraine and for helping us restore a sense of childhood for our brave little ones.
