Dear Friends,
Even when illness and war try to steal childhood from Ukraine’s children, they fail. Because there are always people like you—people who bring joy, warmth, and the reassurance that life goes on.
Dacha Family House in Kyiv and Lviv, supported by you, continues to show the families staying there just how brightly childhood can shine—even in the shadow of hospitals and air raid sirens.
Sunny days have meant picnics in the garden, shared meals, and laughter. The children love gathering in the kitchen to cook alongside parents, volunteers and special guests. These moments were especially delicious—everyone helped prepare fresh pizzas and grill their favorite burgers.
Summer also brought lively outdoor games and family contests. In the evenings, everyone gathered to celebrate birthdays—with candles, hugs, and the simple happiness of feeling like a true family.
The adventures didn’t stop there. One day, the children set off to explore the local zoo. Surrounded by lions and giraffes, they were able to forget, even for a while, about painful treatment.
Another unforgettable day came when Dacha families attended a concert by Okean Elzy. As in the famous lyrics—“Hold me, hold me... so gently, and don’t let go”—it felt as though the music itself was wrapping them in comfort. When the band played “I won’t surrender without a fight,” every child felt a little stronger.
Seeing the children’s bright, unguarded emotions at every gathering reminds us why Dacha Family House and its community exist. These moments of connection are a special kind of care—the kind that heals hearts. This care is vital for families whose children undergo painful therapies amid the fear and uncertainty of war.
Your support makes all of this possible. Thank you for giving children a place where they can feel safe and free to be children, no matter what is happening around them.
P.S. Every gift you make in July will be doubled to help more children experience the magic and safety of Dacha Family House. Please give today—and help keep childhood alive.
