Dear Friends,
Thank you for being there for children in Ukraine and helping give them a home away from home while they undergo treatment in Kyiv and Lviv – and, in the future, in Dnipro.
Recently, one of our Dacha Family Houses welcomed a very special visitor: actor Liev Schreiber.
You may know Liev from the screen. We also know him as a supporter of Ukraine’s grassroots organizations since the beginning of the full-scale war.
And this is where his story connects with yours.
Just like you, Liev chose to support children in wartime Ukraine and the local organizations helping them every day. This time, he came to Dacha to see firsthand what that support looks like in real life.
It was a chance to see what Dacha really means for children and their families – something you can also glimpse in the video from this visit on Instagram.
Dacha is much more than free accommodation near a hospital. It is a place where families stay together, meet others who understand what they are going through, receive psychosocial support and rehabilitation and find space for joyful moments during an extraordinarily difficult time.
So far this year, 210 families have found a home at Dacha in Kyiv and Lviv.
Denys and Anton are among the children who have stayed here. Denys, who loves music and performing, sang while Liev kept the beat. Anton, whose arm was in a cast, got the autograph he had been hoping for – right on the cast. The children also joined a T-shirt painting workshop with volunteers and made a special gift for their guest.
Children undergoing treatment could simply be children.
That is what your support makes possible.
Today, Dacha Family Houses are open in Kyiv and Lviv, and we are already working to bring the same support to families in Dnipro.
Before leaving, Liev and our team agreed on where we would like to meet next: at the future Dacha in Dnipro. With people like you beside us, we can make it happen.
