Dear friends,
thank you for helping to ensure free accommodation at the Center Dacha for children with cancer.
Today I would like to tell you a story of 2-year-old Matviy who has been living with his family at the Center Dacha for six months. All this time the boy is fighting against a terrible disease: kidney cancer. Unfortunately, in addition to cancer the child has a heart defect. So, his little body has to fight against two diseases at a time. Moreover, the family comes from the Lugansk Oblast that is close to the conflict zone in the Eastern Ukraine. Although their village is not occupied it is full of military machines and explosion from the battlefront can be heard everywhere. The boy was afraid of any noise when he came to the Dacha for the first time…
Because of heart problems Matviy has a special treatment protocol. He receives small doses of chemotherapy in a day hospital regime. So, he receives chemo and immediately goes to the Dacha where he feels much better than in a hospital patients’ room. Here he can play in a playroom with a lot of toys or spend time in the fresh air in the garden. Most of all, Matviy is happy when volunteers come to the Dacha and play with him and with his friends. Also he likes to spend time with his mother at the kitchen helping to bake cookies. When his father does some small repair works in the house Matviy is always with him handing him instruments.
When Zaporuka ladies and lady guests come to the Dacha Matviy meets them and offers them his hand to accompany them like a true gentleman. For him Dacha is his home, it’s a place where he feels safe. Here he can be together with his mother and his father and sometimes even his granny comes for a visit. Your support makes it possible for Matviy and many other kids.
