In Kogi State, many women with high-risk pregnancies die because they can't afford the cost of a C-section. This project will provide free C-sections to poor women who are most at risk of complications during childbirth. With the help of local doctors and hospitals, we aim to reduce maternal deaths by offering safe delivery options, transport support, and basic aftercare for 500 mothers and their newborns.
In Kogi State the middle-belt region of Nigeria, many pregnant women face life-threatening complications but can't afford the cost of a C-section. Public hospitals are overstretched, and private care is too expensive. As a result, women with high-risk pregnancies often stay at home, hoping for the best. Many end up losing their lives or their babies during childbirth - deaths that could have been prevented with timely surgery.
This project will cover the cost of C-sections for women with high-risk pregnancies who can't afford it. Working with local hospitals and doctors, we'll make sure poor and rural women get safe delivery, transport to the hospital, and basic aftercare. By removing cost as a barrier, we can save lives and prevent needless suffering for both mothers and their babies.
This project can reduce maternal and newborn deaths in Kogi by making safe childbirth possible for poor women. As more women survive delivery, trust in hospital care will grow, and families will seek help earlier. It will also help build a local support system that keeps saving lives, even in rural areas where help is far away and C-sections are often feared or misunderstood.
