Christmas for our children

By Laura Pousa | Project Leader

Carmen, pictured here with Pablo, her son who has benefitted from our “Free schools meals program” would like to thank SOS Children Villages. She know that now he eat a balanced meal every day and see them happy is priceless for me.

She express gratitude for the support. "Thanks to your invaluable help", in this school year we have been able to provide meals for her son (for the full school year). He all face serious social problems, and if it were not for your financial assistance, we would not have been able to ensure the basic nutrition of Pablo, in very difficult situations.

"Thanks to all of you who make this possible", Carmen says.

"In this public school, do not have any funding or economic activity that would provide us with income, except for the donations we receive from NGOs". Although a few years ago the regional government introduced subsidized meal prices, families with financial difficulties are beyond the reach of these.

The Elementary School Manager (Zaragoza, Spain) apologized because her school asked for a lot of individual scholarships and she told SOS Children Villages "each family really needed the support" . She thanked the initiative because many people in Spain are living a critical moment and this support is very important for them, and improving the children´s  lives.

She assured us there is a high % of population affected by the lack of job opportunities, where not a single family´s member are working right now. They are living precariously with only small grants. The managers thanked SOS Children Villages´ support because this initiative has helped to reduce the level of worries of those families.

Congratulated SOS Children Villages Spain. She told about the situation there and said "The money (from other welfare programs) doesn't reach every family who need it, and the extra support of SOS Children Villages is a relief for families whom, without this support, would be suffering a hazardous situation".

The program benefit the community at large, first due it provides food to children at-risk, and this is very important because they are the future of the society. If they grow up healthy they will be able to have a normal live and a future thriving of opportunities.

Thanks you donors for your help and Merry Christmas
