Tharparkar is a remote and extended area of Pakistan where basic immunities of life are non-existent. Even drinking water is not available. Women have to travel long distances to fetch water for their families. People live in mud huts which are often burnt due to small fires resulting in damage to life and property. In this backdrop Customs Health Care Society has contemplated building low-cost one-room homes for the poor people of Thar which will provide them shelter and safety from fire.
Tharparkar is a district of Sindh, Pakistan situated at far and distant place. The people are very poor and they live in huts made of mud and wood. There is always a danger of the muds being burnt with fire and these are also washed away during rains and floods.
Keeping in view the above-mentioned problem, the Customs Health Care Society (CHCS) decided to provide the people of Tharparkar, Sindh, Pakistan with newly built bricked houses along with the installation of solar panels for the continuous and uninterrupted supply of electricity. Not only, these houses will be fire resistant but will also provide a safe living to the people of Tharparkar during the rainy season as well.
With this step, Customs Health Care Society (CHCS) intends to not only improve the living standard of the people of Tharparkar Sindh Pakistan but also intends to improve the socio-economic condition of the area as well. Moreover, people in the area will be free of the worry of losing their house to fire or to rain/ flood.
