Project Report | Feb 19, 2024
From Hut to Home

By Asif Jah | Project Leader

Respected Donors,
Season Greetings...!

Devastating floods during the year 2022 in Pakistan left millions of people displaced, forcing them to endure life under the open sky for the past four months. Consequently, our focus has shifted from the "Mud Hut to Home" initiative towards aiding the rehabilitation of flood-affected individuals in Sindh.

Tharparkar, a region known for its remoteness and poverty, is particularly vulnerable. Much of its terrain is desert with vast stretches of barren land. In collaboration with the GlobalGiving Foundation, CHCS has been diligently digging wells to provide safe drinking water to the drought-stricken population of Thar, benefiting thousands of both humans and animals.

While progress on the "From Mud Hut to Home" project has been steady, efforts are underway to construct and allocate brick-walled houses to impoverished families in Tharparkar. These sturdy dwellings have brought solace to the recipients who now happily reside within them. CHCS remains committed to expanding this housing initiative to uplift more impoverished hut dwellers in Tharparkar.

Although CHCS continues to construct homes for Tharparkar's underprivileged using its own resources, additional funding is essential for scaling up these efforts. We earnestly appeal to donors worldwide to contribute generously, enabling us to construct more homes for the flood-affected population in Sindh. More than 500 houses have been built so far.

Warm regards,

Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, Project Leader
