Respected Donors,
Seasons Greeting...!
The devastating floods in Pakistan last year caused unprecedented destruction, rendering millions of people homeless. For the past four months, these individuals have been living in dire conditions under the open sky, with little hope for immediate relief. In response to this humanitarian crisis, CHCS has reoriented its "From Mud Hut to Home" project to focus on the urgent rehabilitation needs of flood-affected communities in Sindh.
The Challenges of Tharparkar
Tharparkar is one of the most remote and impoverished areas in Pakistan. The region is predominantly desert, with vast stretches of barren land and very limited resources. The people of Tharparkar face severe challenges, including extreme poverty, malnutrition, and a lack of basic amenities. In collaboration with the GlobalGiving Foundation, CHCS has been working tirelessly to address some of these issues. One of our significant initiatives involves digging wells to provide safe drinking water. These wells are a lifeline, supplying essential water to thousands of people and animals in drought-hit areas.
Progress of the "From Mud Hut to Home" Project
Despite the redirection of resources due to the floods, the "From Mud Hut to Home" project continues to make gradual progress. This initiative aims to replace fragile, mud huts with sturdy, brick-walled houses, providing safe and stable homes for the poorest families in Tharparkar. Each new home represents a significant improvement in living conditions, offering better protection from the harsh environment and a sense of security for the residents.
Our teams have been working diligently to construct and hand over these houses to families in need. The joy and relief on the faces of the beneficiaries are palpable, as these new homes symbolize a fresh start and hope for a better future.
Continued Commitment and Need for Support
CHCS is deeply committed to building more homes for the hut dwellers of Tharparkar. While we have made significant strides using our own resources, the scale of need far exceeds our current capacity. The recent floods have exacerbated the situation, creating an even greater demand for secure housing.
To meet this increased need, we urgently require additional funds. We appeal to donors across the globe to support our efforts generously. Your contributions will enable us to:
1. Construct More Homes**: Each donation helps us build more brick-walled houses, providing safe and stable shelter for flood-affected families and impoverished residents of Tharparkar.
2. Expand Water Projects**: Continued support will allow us to dig more wells, ensuring that both humans and animals have access to safe drinking water in this drought-stricken region.
3. Provide Immediate Relief**: Donations will help us deliver essential supplies, such as food, clothing, and medical aid, to those who are still struggling in the aftermath of the floods.
4. Support Long-Term Rehabilitation**: Beyond immediate relief, your contributions will help us implement sustainable development projects aimed at improving the overall living conditions and economic opportunities in Tharparkar.
How You Can Help
Your generosity can make a profound difference in the lives of those affected by the floods and the ongoing hardships in Tharparkar. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal of providing safe, stable, and dignified living conditions for these vulnerable populations.
We invite you to join us in this crucial mission. Together, we can rebuild homes, restore hope, and create a brighter future for the flood-affected communities and the residents of Tharparkar. Thank you for your compassion and support.
Regards, Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah
