The catastrophic floods in Pakistan last year caused widespread devastation, leaving millions of people homeless and struggling for survival. For the past several months, countless individuals have endured unimaginable hardships, living under the open sky without adequate shelter or resources. In response to this ongoing humanitarian crisis, CHCS has redirected its "From Mud Hut to Home" project to focus on the urgent rehabilitation needs of flood-affected communities in Sindh.

Challenges of Tharparkar

Tharparkar, one of Pakistan’s most remote and impoverished regions, faces extreme poverty, malnutrition, and a lack of basic amenities. The desert terrain and scarce resources exacerbate the struggles of its residents. In collaboration with the GlobalGiving Foundation, CHCS has been addressing some of these critical issues. One of our key initiatives includes digging wells to provide safe drinking water, a lifeline for thousands of people and animals in drought-stricken areas.

Progress of the "From Mud Hut to Home" Project

Despite resource redirection due to the floods, the "From Mud Hut to Home" project has continued to make steady progress in 2024. This initiative is dedicated to replacing fragile mud huts with durable brick-walled houses, offering a secure and stable living environment for the most vulnerable families in Tharparkar. Each new home represents a significant improvement in quality of life, providing protection from harsh weather conditions and a renewed sense of security.

Our dedicated teams have been working tirelessly to construct and hand over these homes to families in dire need. The joy and gratitude expressed by the beneficiaries highlight the transformative impact of these efforts, as each new home brings hope for a brighter future.
