Quarterly Project Report

Introduction

We are excited to share the latest progress from our From Street to School: Children Transformative Project. Over the past months, our team has continued to work with vulnerable children who once lived and worked on the streets, helping them transition into education and a safer childhood.

Project Activities

  • Street Outreach: Our social workers met with over 60 street-connected children in local markets and public areas, listening to their stories and building trust.
  • School Enrollments: We successfully enrolled 3 children into nearby primary schools. Each child received uniforms, textbooks, and school supplies.
  • Counseling & Support: We held weekly group counseling sessions for both children and parents, addressing trauma, building confidence, and preparing families for school reintegration.
  • Daily Meals: To reduce dropout risks, we provided cashtransfer for 5 children, ensuring that hunger does not keep them out of the classroom.

Impact Story

One of the children, Biram used to sell water on the streets to support her family. Through our program, she is now in Grade 3, attending classes daily and dreaming of becoming a nurse. Her mother shared: “I never thought my daughter would hold a schoolbook instead of a water bucket. This project has given us hope.”

Challenges

We continue to face challenges such as limited resources for school fees and resistance from some families who rely on children’s income from street work. Our team is engaging with parents and community leaders to raise awareness about the long-term value of education.

Next Steps

In the coming months, we plan to:

  • Expand outreach to reach 40 more children still on the streets.
  • Launch a teacher sensitization workshop to help schools welcome and support street-connected children.
  • Strengthen our community dialogues to build parental commitment to children’s education.

Closing

We are deeply grateful for your continued support through GlobalGiving. Each contribution has a direct impact on children’s lives, turning their stories of struggle into journeys of hope and opportunity. Together, we are proving that no child should be left behind.
