Looking Ahead to 2020!!!

By Alian Ollivierre | Project Leader

What Have We Been Up To?

Firstly, thank you for all your support, for those of you donating on a regular basis, to all new donors, who have complimented our work for this period.

To give you a quick update, in the past few weeks we have completed:

  1. Summer Internships came to a close; however, of the three (3) interns we had this year, one (1) outstanding young lady got an opportunity to stay on and work with us.  She is now leading our Social Media arm, and currently taking ownership of the planning for Summer Programming 2020.
  2. On the International Day of the Girl Child 2019, we celebrated our 5th official anniversary, which we were super excited about.  As part of that celebration, which we will be continuing until October 2020, we got an opportunity to lift up five (5) outstanding girls in our Generation Y Programme.  They were selected by the girls working in our team, presented with gifts from them directly, and in the coming month will become the recipients of small grant scholarships to assist with school.
  3. During our celebration period we took the entire month of October, to uplift and empower girls throughout various schools on the island.  Of the five (5) schools visited, two (2) were at the primary level (5-11) and three (3) were at the secondary level (11-18).  We focused on the theme, 'Leading through Brand Building', which placed focus on Personal Development, Personal Branding and Leadership as the foundation for success.

We have some absolutely amazing donors, like yourselves, that have held us up, and we will continue to highlight you, going in to another five (5) years of existence.

Where Are We Going?

In the last few months we will be starting a few initiatives, previously stated, as listed below:

  • We have built new partnerships with like minded organisations within the Caribbean, as we will be continuing to expand our reach to girls regionally.  As such we are now leading the development of a regional collective, going in to 2020, and are super excited to share more details when that launches.
  • Our Podcast has had to be delayed; however, we are still planning to get that under way for the benefit of our community.  This will give you an opportunity to listen to a few of our girls speak openly and honestly about their challenges.  Feel free to stay closely connected to our social media and website, for further details on its launch.

How Can You Continue To Help?

We of course, continue to welcome your collaboration and support.  Some ways you can continue to get involved are:

  1. Spread the word with family, friends, co-workers and associates, who may have resources to offer.  This may be done via social media, e-mail, direct conversation.  You know them best!
  2. Work with us by offering your expertise, skills and experiences, that would allow us to grow and learn in fundraising, advocacy and/or any other areas required for growth.
  3. Become a recurring donor, if you have not done so already, where your continual support, aids with sustaining our initiatives.
  4. Complete a good deed each week, whether for girls or youth in general, as it adds tremendous value to their development, as we are at our optimum when we are in service to others.

As we start to close out 2019 and build different chapters in I Am A Girl, we look forward to having you, our community, previous, current and new partners, and stakeholders on board to help us learn, develop and prosper.
