We continue to keep pushing forward, as there is so much work to be done. It is a pleasure to connect with you, as we share many goals achieved and progress to be made for the future.
Since we last connected with you our programming has been growing with new girls and even more involvement.
We told you previously what was coming up next and we definitely delivered successfully with the following:
50 MORE WORKSHOP: On International Women's Day where we bridged the gap between gender disparity and gender equity by executing a youth workshop on leadership and ambassadorship. It focused on generating hearty discussions on sustainable progression for Barbados and the Caribbean.
Youth are at the forefront of development in any country, and we desire to see them seeing 50 years ahead, and how they as youth should work towards shaping a country, region and world we all would like to see. Approximately 50 youth were present, and fully engaged, leaving with the drive to move forward as leaders within their communities.
GENERATION Y: We executed our annual four (4) day sleep in Easter Retreat, of building sisterhood, developing mindsets, and aiding with mental stability that transcends in to adulthood. We catered for more than 50 girls within our programming, ages 6 - 16, and aided in highlighting their brilliant minds through drama, creative arts and social causes.
We introduced them to things like: Cheerleading, Self Defense, Business Idea Generation, Stress Management and Knowing Your Legal Rights, while also exposing them to volunteerism through our outreach efforts at a Senior Citizens Home, to bridge the gap between generations.
This is one of our more impactful segments yearly, as our girls enjoy the safe space created to truly learn, share and express their passions, while gaining much needed advice and guidance, in unexpected areas.
What's Happening Now?
We are currently continuing our term time programming with developmental sessions occuring for the girls on a bi-weekly basis.
Additionally, as it is currently Child Month in Barbados, and we have started an outreach project, where we are connecting with up to 1,000 Barbadian Primary School Aged Girls at various schools around the island. We have executed 1 session thus far, and will be going on later this month to complete 3 others with girls aged 5 - 11.
This is a spin off from the 50 More Project above, and we are using these sessions to focus on Entrepreneurship and Social Impact.
What's Next?
GENERATION Y: We will continue with our bi-weekly girls' club element, and during Summer will execute our programming, on a bi-weekly basis, to keep the girls focused on being better individuals, and more responsible for society. This summer we will include Job Shadowing Opportunities for the more senior girls, and increase their involvement in the planning of programming for 2019.
To Conclude:
When we think of mentorship, building capacity and mental health development, we amount that to knowing that youth need us all, and we are right here for them. With your contributions we are able to be more consistent and active with our girls, and are better able to serve those who truly need, which is all we care about.
Thank you once again for your support, and stay blessed always!
