For 8 years we have been providing sewing training workshops for parents of former street children. Many children end up on the streets as their parents aren't able to feed them. Providing parents with the chance of learning sewing skills enable them to earn a living and provide education and food for their children. This funding will provide 4 intakes of sewing workshops.
There are thousands of children living on the streets in Lubumbashi, D.R.Congo. The root cause is poverty with parents unable to provide the basics for their children such as food, shelter and education.
Providing sewing workshops for parents of former street children that we have helped to return to their families, will help parents to earn a living and provide for their families.
Ensuring that children can return and remain living and supported by their families has many benefits. For the children they will feel the security of being looked after by their family in their own communities. For the parents they will know the reassurance of being able to supply for their own children. For society it will result in less children on the streets increasing stability in local communities and wider society.
