2025 Report - Fundacion Aladina

By Maria Villen | Digital Manager

Introduction and Activity Summary
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Aladina Foundation, a leading organization in Spain dedicated to supporting children and adolescents with cancer, as well as their families. Known for our innovative, comprehensive care and widely recognized within Spanish society, Aladina collaborates with 22 public hospitals nationwide. Through these partnerships, we support over 2,000 children annually and have accompanied tens of thousands of families since our founding in 2005. Our approach blends medical treatment with laughter, play, emotional guidance, and love—always with a special focus on teenagers, a group often overlooked in pediatric cancer care.

Beneficiary Story
Luis, father to Diego and member of the Aladina team, shares his story:

“As a father, I could never have enough time in my life to thank you for what you do for Diego and for all the children lucky enough to have Aladina cross their path—for what you do for their siblings and for families going through such a difficult process.
As a colleague, I want to say: be proud of yourselves. What you do—what we do—is to be a light in one of the darkest tunnels a family can walk through. I will never stop thanking you.”

Impact and Statistics
Over the past year, the Aladina Foundation has continued to grow and deepen its impact across Spain. A total of 613 children and teenagers received psychological support through our programs, while 2,735 recreational therapy sessions were carried out as part of our “Together from Home” initiative. Animal-assisted therapy sessions with dogs reached 553 young patients, providing comfort and emotional connection during treatment.

We supported 66 siblings and 75 family members—including 71 parents and 4 siblings—through specialized bereavement therapy. Our physical exercise programs, designed to promote both emotional and physical recovery, benefited 293 children. In addition, 274 emotional support sessions were delivered to families navigating the challenges of childhood cancer.

Beyond therapy, we awarded 25 sports scholarships to patients and caregivers, and granted 6 Aladina Fellowships to help train the next generation of young oncologists. A total of 207 children and teens had the opportunity to attend international therapeutic camps, and 295 families received emergency financial assistance. Lastly, our in-home care team carried out 1,601 visits to children receiving palliative care, ensuring continued support in the most sensitive circumstances.

2025 Milestone: The Aladina Home
In celebration of our 20th anniversary, we are building The Aladina Home—Spain’s first comprehensive daytime support center for children with cancer, their families, and survivors. Located on a 15,000m² plot in Madrid’s Hortaleza district, this center will be 100% funded by the Aladina Foundation, with a total investment of €15 million.

Each year, more than 2,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed among children and adolescents in Spain. The Aladina Foundation is committed to expanding our psychological, emotional, material, and research-based support to every young patient facing this disease. With your help, we can reach more hospitals, impact more families, and build a future where no child fights cancer alone.

Together, we can continue to create meaningful and lasting change.
