During this reporting period, the Galkaio School Clinics for Emergency Care & Health project continued to make meaningful progress in strengthening access to school-based health and emergency care services. Despite funding and implementation challenges, Talobeeg Foundation maintained momentum by working closely with schools, communities, and local institutions to sustain activities and improve service delivery.
Progress in School Health Services
During the quarter, five schools received refresher training to reinforce school clinic operations and emergency response mechanisms. Each participating school was represented by three students and two teachers, strengthening both peer support systems and school-level capacity to manage basic health needs and emergencies.
The supported schools continue to maintain functional school clinics, providing basic health and emergency support services to students. Ongoing awareness raising among students, teachers, and school communities has further contributed to improved understanding of health promotion, early identification of health concerns, and timely referral practices.
Strengthening Sustainability Through Local Partnerships
The continuity of school clinic activities has been supported through collaboration with local stakeholders, including schools, communities, and relevant authorities. This approach has helped ensure that school health services remain active while promoting local ownership and long-term sustainability.
Advancing Research and Evidence Generation for National Scale-Up
Recognizing the need for evidence-based policy and programming, Talobeeg Foundation has engaged an experienced Public Health Research expert with PhD-level qualifications to support the design of a research component linked to the project.
The Foundation is currently developing data collection tools and research methodologies to assess:
