Happy Chinese Lunar New Year!

Happy New Year at our new home!

Ouengar is a 16-year-old girl, a tenth grade student who lives with her parents and 7 siblings and grows up as the oldest with 3 brothers and 4 sisters. In her family, five of children are studying at primary and secondary schools including Grade 1, 3, 5, 8, and 10, and two of children go to the kindergarten. The youngest sister is a nine-month-old baby.

“We were originally a nomadic family living in the pastoral area of Uvs Province in Mongolia and we have suffered at the hands of brutal dzud winter. All of our sheep were dying of the winter snow disease then we moved to Darkhan Province, shortly thereafter. It was really difficult to earn enough money for our family, so my husband went to work for illegal logging and was arrested and prosecuted by police while logging. Ouengar's father sentenced to 6 years in prison. He discharged from prison in 2016 and we moved to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, to restart our new life. However, it’s still difficult to find a good job to support our family. Finally, he got a job as the assistant in the automotive repair factory. The working hours is quite long but the job is more stable and secured. I am happy to see all of us are healthy and live together.

We still have the financial problem and we also need to pay 50000 MNT rental every month to live in an old Mongolia ger. I am grateful that TFCF social worker understood our difficulties and supported us to receive your help through GlobalGiving Project and gave us a new and big ger for us. We love our children very much, and I thank you to give me the chance and allow us to live together at our new home. I also got a new job as a cleaner after we moved in to our new home. Definitely, I will work hard with my husband and I believe that we will be able to take care our children with our love and let them grow in the healthy environment and be a giving person like you.”

As we all know that a safe and healthy living space is very important for children growth, so we choose to provide the Mongolia Ger project for needy children and families in Mongolia since years ago. We would like to invite you to join us again in 2020 and I believe that we may benefit more children well with your support.

The Lunar New Year is coming soon, and we look forward to continuing to provide children and families with the most valuable services available through TFCF branches. We want to thank you all for your tremendous support last year. Our work would not be possible without you.

Winter is coming again!

Himalayan Heroes visits Gerel's family in Mongolia

Gerel is a 11-year-old girl, a sixth grade student who lives with her father and a sister. Gerel’s sister is a fourth grade student. Her family has changed and started to suffer more difficulties when their mother died of illness in 2012.

“You are unable to image how worse I was while my wife passed away suddenly. I started to drink heavily and became an alcoholic father, so my three daughters moved to live with my mother in law afterwards. It was really sad that my oldest daughter died of mysterious illness in January 2016. My mother in law also got liver cancer and died in 2018. I knew she faced a lot of pressure and also spent her retirement pensions for my girls, and I realized that I had to change and take responsibility for my family finally. However, I work very hard and I still cannot offer to pay for our own living space for my family. I greatly appreciate the financial assistance you have provided us including a free ger, our new home, and it allowed us to move out from the relative's house. Moreover, I wish to especially thank TFCF social workers for giving my children long-term care and assistance with their amazing attitudes and professionalism during my absence. I will keep working hard and protecting my girls from now on. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to recover my family.”

Our dear friends, Himalayan Heroes

I want to express my sincere appreciation for the support of Himalayan Heroes. Their commitment was incredibly generous and helped us reach our fundraising needs. Not just the donation, but personal visits, Mr. Tito Moyse and members of Himalayan Heroes came to visit TFCF Mongolia recently when they travelled in Mongolia. They also gave the warmest regards to Gerel’s family and visited their ger which was under construction during their visit period. Thank Himalayan Heroes for participating in our project and we do treasure the partnership and friendship with Himalayan Heroes.

The prices of Mongolia Ger has kept going up and up this year, and it brings more difficulties for disadvantaged families who need a ger before the winter coming. TFCF has done our best to provide 13 families in total so far this year and there are 7 households to receive the replacement of furniture, walls, wooden floor etc. Winter is coming again, and we are glad to have you with us. Thank you!

Fight poverty for children

So happy to move into a new ger~

Geegia is a 15-year-old girl, a ninth grade student who lives with her mother and a half-sister. Her mother divorced twice and raises two children alone. Her half-sister is 8 years old (second grade student). Previously, they lived in a tire repair shop with the worst living condition.

“We started to assist this family in December 2015. At the beginning, they lived in the relative's house then moved to her grandparent’s house. However, it was far away from school and workplace and it’s about 20 km away. Finally, they moved to the tire repair shop where her mother’s workplace is. Geegia’s mother rent a tire repair shop with her friend and they were business partners to share the revenue of the shop. Even Geegia’s mother was a hard working woman, she was unable to provide a healthy living environment for her two children. The income was unstable and there was not enough living space in the tire repair shop. The living space and room were filled with the tire and the plastic burnt smell. To consider that two children are girls and gradually enter the youth stage, we believe that we should help them move into a new ger where could be their new home to stay safely. We are glad to see Geegia’s smile again after they moved into their new home. Geegia’s family is so happy to have a new beginning of their lives and two children enjoy studying at home after school. They want to say thanks to all of you who have donated through this GlobalGiving project. Thank you for all your assistance. I really appreciate your support in helping Geegia’s family.”

Fight poverty for children

Most of us live comfortably in the world, however there are many children and families still living in poverty. Some people are unable to fight poverty because of unemployment, low income, illness, disability, etc. which caused by family accidents. We are unable to help all people, however, we will do our best and help as many as we can. Giving them a home is the first step to help fight poverty for children.

We have provided new gers for 3 families and repaired worn wooden floors for 2 families in this quarter. We will continue to help children and families to build their new home in Mongolia and we are glad to have you with us. Thank you!
