More than 3,500 of our volunteers and employees are responding to the flooding in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. Many people affected by the flooding will depend on our emergency relief for days and weeks. Many have lost all their possessions and need access to basic supplies.
Torrential rains caused rivers to overflow with little warning, causing major flooding across Germany and Belgium. Flooding has also impacted downs in the Netherlands and Switzerland. The storm has cut off communications with large parts of the region, and first responders are working on accounting for at least 1,300 people in Germany.
All donations to this project will support recovery and relief efforts from German Red Cross / Deutsches Rotes Kreuz. We provide emergency response including quick assignment of pre-trained personnel and pre-packaged material, relief materials, and donations and contributions in cash and in-kind to partner organizations.
Organizations like German Red Cross / Deutsches Rotes Kreuz, deeply rooted in local communities, are in the best position to provide long-term support for survivors of natural disasters like these floods.
