Graduation Season is Upon Us

Dear Friends,

Graduation season is upon us. Seven young women (and 11 young men) are now on the cusp of one of the greatest achievements of their lives to date - their high school graduation!

In Honduras, only one of 7 high school graduates continues on to higher education. Five of these seven young women have taken and passed the university admissions exam and are set to enroll at the public university next year, where they will pursue studies in psychology, law and finance, to name a few. We could not be more proud of their achievements and are so excited to share photographs from their graduations with you later this month!

You are receiving this message because you believe in what we are doing together. Your support makes these achievements - and "firsts" - possible for our youth and their families. If you are currently giving once or twice a year, but are interested in doing more, we would like to encourage you to become a monthly sustainer, commiting to make a monthly gift at whatever level works best for you. Whether its $10 or $100/month, your sustained giving will help us push through the difficult moments and plan for the future.

Over the past few weeks, we have been overwhelmed with daily coverage of the migrant caravan, which initiated with just a couple hundred Hondurans and has grown to over 7,000 Central American migrants who have since departed their home countries or joined along the way as they journey north to seek refute, asylum and safety in the United States.

What marks the difference between our scholars and many of the young people traveling in this caravan is opportunity - the opportunity to finish high school, the opportunity to go to college, the opportunity to hope, and the opportunity to turn that hope into action.

Your continued support is vital to keep these opportunities alive for young women who need them, and who are committed to maximizing these opportunities to drive change and create opportunities for others.

Giving Tuesday, this November 27th, is less than three weeks away! It is the perfect day to renew your commitment by making a one-time gift or becoming a monthly sustainer. GlobalGiving will be matching all new recurring donations made on #GivingTuesday and through the end of the year. OYE will also be eligible to receive matching funds that will be awarded proportionately according to fundraising totals across all participating organizations.

We hope we can count on you to step up for OYE and for promising young women in Honduras this #GivingTuesday!

In appreciation,
Amanda

P.S. We are proud to share that last October 19th, OYE received the local government's top award, named in honor of El Progreso's first mayor "Guillermo J. Baín," in recognition of our commitment to education and youth empowerment in our community, You can read more here.
