Dear GlobalGiving Supporters:
As we continue raising funds for this new project of La Casa de Panchita, we’ve already agreed on who our first mentor will be, and we want to let you know right away. We’re thrilled to introduce you to Anali Sanchez, the vibrant young woman and former child domestic worker who will take this key role in the project.
Anali was born in 1991 in Huancayo, a city in the sierra, six hours from Lima. She’s the fourth of five children, who migrated to the megalopolis of Lima when she was only three years old. Anali was a child domestic worker by the time she was 9. By age 16 she worked full time, living in her employer´s house.
She started participating in La Casa de Panchita’s program aged 13, and five years later became an outreach assistant. Anali has supported many girls in child domestic work, doing tutoring, facilitating workshops, visiting their families, and organizing advocacy in her community.
“I like helping girls the same way others helped me,” she says, “I’m ready for the challenge of becoming a mentor for this project … I’m sure it’s going to be a very exciting experience.”
Anali begins her training this month and expects to begin mentoring her first girls by June.
Thank you for being a supporter of the cause!
