Together we are changing destinies

By Dr Girish Kulkarni | Founder

You are helping girls of all ages
You are helping girls of all ages

Thank you for your belief in us, this is just one example of many that your support makes a difference!

Nayana is a student of our Balbhavan slum schools. She has grown up in a very simple and challenging situation, but at heart she is a very ambitious and stubborn girl. Her father doesn’t work so it is left to her mother to support the family by preparing food and washing the dishes of four households, sometimes earning extra cash through working at weddings which requires her being absent from home for a full day, making running her household a big challenge every day.

Not wanting to end up with the same fate as her mother, Nayana has been coming to our Balbhavan since class 1. She is good in studies and her enthusiasm is endless, participating in all programs, competitions and activities, enthusiastically being the first to say, “I will do it!” The dream of doing something with her life has always been at the fore.

When she entered class 12, she was still finding English difficult. Considering her home situation, attending classes caused a lot of tension, but our Balbhavan encouraged her and took the initiative to admit her to coaching classes. Being so committed to her future, Nayana attended all of her classes, arriving on time every day while also doing her best to support her mother with the housework.

During the exam period, she totally devoted her time to her studies. No matter how tired she was, she was determined saying, “I have to pass”. Her hard work paid off – she passed with 48%. Although not near to being top in her class, this was a huge victory against a never-ending struggle achieved through her relentless determination and hard work.

Nayana’s dream now is to attend college to complete a degree and with your continued support, our Balbhavan team will continue to stand with and encourage her. Nayana exemplifies so many of our students– simple and quiet, but with so much inner strength to overcome adversity. Her story is truly inspiring to so many others facing similar challenges.

We are grateful that your belief in our children allows our team to share their belif that with a little support our children can change their destinies. Thank you!
