Dear Donors,
Thank you to those who have supported the Give 500 Walking Aids to Elderly People in Need project. Your generosity reflects care for older people who struggle daily with unsafe movement and limited support.
In many rural and low-income communities, elderly people depend on broken canes, weak sticks, or tree branches to walk. These makeshift tools are unstable and increase the risk of falls and injuries. Because of this, many older people limit their movement, stay indoors for long periods, or rely heavily on others for basic activities. Families often find it difficult to provide constant help due to work demands and distance.
This project plans to provide 500 strong, adjustable walking aids to elderly people who are most at risk. The walking aids will be lightweight, stable, and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Community health workers and elders’ groups will help identify beneficiaries, and distribution will be done directly to ensure the aids reach those who need them most. Some units will also be assembled locally to support small community workers.
At this point, although donations have been received, the resources available are not yet enough to begin distribution and assembly. We are continuing efforts to secure further support so procurement and delivery can move forward.
Once the project begins, these walking aids will help older people move more safely, regain confidence, and reduce their dependence on caregivers. We will share updates as progress is made.
Thank you for standing with elderly people and helping improve their daily mobility and dignity.
Kind regards,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
