Thank you to everyone who has donated to this project and to those following its progress. Your support shows care for communities that struggle daily to access something as basic as clean water. While we are grateful for the donations received so far, the funds are not yet enough to begin construction of the borehole. The need, however, remains urgent.
In many villages in North Central Nigeria, families still depend on streams and ponds for drinking water. About 6 out of every 10 households use unsafe water sources. This leads to frequent cases of diarrhea, typhoid, and cholera, especially among children. These illnesses are preventable, yet they continue to claim time, income, and sometimes lives.
Women and children are most affected. They walk long distances every day to fetch water, often spending several hours that could have gone to school, farming, or small businesses. During the dry season, water sources shrink, and the risk of disease increases even more.
This project plans to build a solar-powered borehole at the center of one village to serve 500 people. Solar power ensures the system works without fuel costs or unreliable electricity. Clean water close to home will reduce disease, save time, and provide a steady supply throughout the year.
Access to safe water changes everything. Children can attend school more regularly. Women can focus on productive work. Families spend less on medical care. In due time, the whole community becomes healthier and more stable.
We are close, but not there yet. Continued support is needed to turn this plan into action and give this village a safe and lasting water source.
