Dear Supporters,
From AGTR-La Casa de Panchita we would like to share with you some news. Some good and some…not so good. But hey, let’s stay positive!
Let’s start with the “not so good” ones and let’s get it over with. Despite our efforts and your support, we are unable to acquire our current venue. Since we launched the project last February, we raised almost $9,000 from 70 donations. We still have a long way to go in order to be able to afford a new house.
We always knew it was a huge challenge, especially in such a short time. For the time being, we will have to rent a new venue and move “La Casa De Panchita” to a new place next month. This is a bump in the road, because rents in Lima are rather expensive and it is hard to let go of the “home away from home” we were able to build at our current location during the past ten years. For the past three months, we have been offering our Sunday workshops to more and more girls, knowing it would be their last chance to enjoy our “casa”. We are explaining to both girls and women we have to move and we are trying to make this transition as easy as possible. We are also informing the public through our weekly radio program "We're not invisible”, in order to make aware of our situation as many people as possible.
But as they say, every cloud has a silver lining! We are not giving up on our dream of owning our own home and ensure that girls in child domestic work and adult domestic workers keep benefitting from all the services we provide during many, many more years! We are determined to keep up the hard work to raise the money we need to make our dream come true, it is only going to take longer than expected. We would like to ask you to go the extra mile with us and keep supporting us, so that we can keep supporting girls exposed t child domestic work!
Sincerely,
Blanca Figueroa
