We have a "new" workshop space!
By Blanca Figueroa | Project Leader
Dear Supporters,
We made some changes at La Casa de Panchita. We moved some things around and renewed a room that is now the new space where we carry out empowerment and labor workshops with domestic workers. The new space is larger than the one we were previously using and can comfortably accommodate more participants. Thanks to your continued support, we could repaint the walls and decorate the space to make it more pleasant and make domestic workers feel welcome. At the same time, having a proper workshop room, facilitates our team’s daily work.
Thank you for helping us continuing to improve our work!
Sincerely,
Blanca Figueroa

News from AGTR-La Casa de Panchita!
By Blanca Figueroa | Project Leader
Throughout the summer, we took advantage of a very nice little terrace at our house, which has been very useful for activities with girls and women, such as self-esteem workshops and English classes. Large pots with plants and flowers surround the walls, which gives us the illusion of a garden (we do not have one) and creates a friendly space, which favors dialogue.
Thinking about our house fills me with joy. It is old and small, but it shelters and protects us, especially on Sundays, when it is filled with girls and women, who dedicate themselves to serving others, but here can laugh, learn, make friends and be free. Thanks to your support, La casa de Panchita is still open and at their service.
Best regards,
Blanca Figueroa

Our achievements in 2018
By Blanca Figueroa | Project Leader
Dear Friends,
As the new year began, we looked back at 2018 and we would like to thank you for your continued support, which allowed us to help a great deal of domestic workers improve their living conditions. We would like to share with you some of last year’s results:
- 2,284 domestic workers received information on the Peruvian law regulating domestic work and were motivated to take part in AGTR’s empowering workshops;
- 750 domestic workers took part in our workshops, improving their self-esteem, their knowledge of their labor rights and learning how to manage and improve the relationship with their employers;
- 274 domestic workers were placed in jobs with a fair salary and dignified working conditions;
- 87 domestic workers received counseling and were able to preserve and/or improve their jobs.
We are grateful for this results and we are determined to keep helping women employed as domestic workers improve their livelihoods, as they are usually internal migrants from poor Andean regions, now living in low income peripheral areas of Lima, with children. Thank you!
Best regards,
Blanca Figueroa
