It is my pleasure to present our project progress and update report (August-September 2019) for the Project: “Giving children a chance to learn and grow.” This project wasaimed at creating a sustainable water supply system that would not only provide water throughout the year but also improve the standards of sanitation to the Mutulani Schools and community, in Makueni County, Kenya.
During this period, PEN in consultation with the Mutulani community especially the Schools and the local community-based organization that spearheads the project, agreed to update and merge this project with the original project ‘provide clean and safe water for 1500 women and children.’ The fusion of the two projects is geared towards provision of clean and safe water in Mutulani community including the community’s institutions (Mutulani primary & Secondary Schools) and improvement of sanitation standards. The two projects, though slightly different, aimed at the same goal thus the rationale of combining them. This would also enhance the fundraising efforts through the GlobalGiving platform to achieve the overarching goal of the projects. The “Giving children a chance to learn and grow” project has so far raised $97.69 since it was posted, an amount that will be pooled with those of ‘provide clean and safe water for 1500 women and children’ project. Further, the micro project that was posted in the GlobalGiving page with an objective of equipping the Mutulani Borehole that was sunk in 2017 with a water Pump retired in August 2019, thus all effort will now be directed to fundraising for one project with the purpose of achieving the ultimate goal soon. The synergy that will be gained through the merger of these projects is aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the project and to improve the efficiency of fundraising strategy.
Mutulani Community and PEN continues to appreciate the selfless support that all our donors and supporters provide towards ending the perennial water and sanitation issues experienced in Mutulani village.
