Kenya School Updates

By Brian M | Head Teacher

There is a specific sound that has been filling the air in our project communities lately, and it’s one of my favorite things in the world: the rhythmic "clink-clink-clink" of tools and the sudden, joyful splash of clean water hitting a bucket for the first time.

Because of your incredible support, that sound is becoming the new soundtrack for so many families in Kenya. We’ve been spending a lot of time in the informal settlements of Mombasa lately, and the energy there is just buzzing. If you can imagine the sheer stress of waking up every day wondering if you’ll have enough water to cook or wash, you can imagine the pure relief washing over these neighborhoods as our rainwater harvesting systems click into gear.

One of the best parts of these last few months hasn't just been the tanks and the pipes it’s been the people. We’ve been working side-by-side with local teams, getting our hands dirty and mapping out the best rooftops to catch every single drop of rain. There’s such a sense of pride when a community realizes they don’t have to wait for a solution anymore; they are the ones building it, maintaining it, and owning it.

And the schools! Oh, the schools are a different world now. I wish you could see the kids showing up to class with their water bottles full and their smiles even wider. We used to see so many empty desks because children were either too sick from dirty water or too busy walking miles to find a well. Now, they’re staying in class, playing at recess, and just being kids. You haven’t just given them a drink; you’ve given them back their childhood and their education.

Every time we visit a new well-point, the conversations have changed. Neighbors aren't worrying about the cost of a jerrycan anymore—they’re talking about their gardens and their small businesses. Clean water has become the spark that’s lighting up everything else.

None of this happens without you. You are the reason these taps are turning and these stories are changing. Thank you for being such a huge, vital part of this family and for believing that everyone deserves the dignity of clean water. We are so excited to keep this ripple moving with you!

With so much gratitude and a very big "Asante Sana,"
