For nearly four years, GlobalMedic has supported Ukrainians internally displaced within their homeland, as well as Ukrainian refugees in Moldova, with food, water and medical aid. Our aid has reached all corners of the country, through all seasons, and we have endeavoured to match the evolving needs of the country with relevant aid.
Through constant monitoring and innovation, we have not only brought aid into Ukraine from Canada, but set up production and distribution hubs in Ukraine and its neighbouring countries, such as Moldova and Romania. This allows us to stretch our funding even further, so more people get the help they so desperately need. Below we will focus on highlighting some of the most vital aid we were able to get to families affected and displaced by the ongoing war.
Over the course of our response, which began in February of 2022 mere days after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, we have delivered 47,374 Family Emergency Kits within Ukraine and 10,764 within Moldova. These Family Emergency Kits are lightweight, durable and compact. These kits are all built in Canada at our Headquarters and shipped overseas into our distribution hubs for passage into Ukraine. These kits contain a point-of-use water purification unit, a solar light, and essential hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap.
Our response has also focused on food kits, meals and fresh produce sourced within the countries we are working in. Between our production centres in Lutsk & Odesa within Ukraine, as well as Siret, Romania, and Chisinau, Moldova, GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team as well as Internally Displaced Peoples within Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees in Moldova, we have built and distributed 557,822 Food Hampers.
In addition to our Food Hampers, GlobalMedic also has worked with our partners in Chisinau, Moldova and Lutsk & Odesa in Ukraine to deliver Hot Meals to Ukrainians, through this partnership we delivered 131,353 meals to Ukrainian Families
Throughout our response, many Canadian Volunteers and GlobalMedic staff have supported our work in Ukraine and the neighbouring countries we work in to diversify our work. We have sent 48 teams of staff and volunteers to oversee and participate in our work, and it is all through support like the kind we receive from GlobalGiving.
