Greetings all and happy holidays!
We closed out the first year of Greenworks with some successes but also some challenges as well.
In terms of successes, our Ukrainian team has spent a good portion of the year working out in the Carpathian Mountains, investigating and mapping the Sukel' River and its communities, including sources of pollution and developing an educational campaign to help the community improve water quality. We have extended their agreement for another year to continue this fantastic work.
In Brazil, the team ran into challenges with wildfires that badly impacted native stingless bee colonies that were going to be used for the project. That created a multi-month delay. However, the team is back on track, having finally acquired hives that will be distributed to the rain forest community of Guapiruvu along with an educational campaign on maintenance, bee health, and honey production later this month. We have also extended their agreement for another year as the work continues to develop.
Our other teams struggled and were not able to complete their projects. We have recovered the funds allocated to these projects and will be looking for new partners in 2025. We do have some additional developments in the Greenworks program, but more about that later when agreements become a bit more solid. Stay tuned!
With gratitude,
Lev
