What's Happening and How to Help

We believe that organizations that are deeply rooted in local communities are in the best position to provide long-term support for survivors of natural disasters like these. By funding the relief efforts of local organizations, donations to this fund have the potential to build stronger response capacity so that these organizations are better equipped to face future challenges.

The projects listed below are led by vetted GlobalGiving partners responding to this disaster. You can donate directly to a specific project or to GlobalGiving’s Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund 2021 and we'll allocate it to where it's needed most. GlobalGiving will post reports about how your donation has been put to use.

Haiti earthquake response: Rehab & Prosthetics
On August 14, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti causing major damages in Les Cayes. As of August 20, the Haitian Civil Protection reports over 2,189 deaths and 12,268 injured. This devastation, which left 75,000 families without healthcare access, was aggravated by the rains brought by Tropical Storm Grace. Our goal is to provide primary care to the largest number of people needing rehabilitation and prosthetics. We will prioritize people with disabilities and delivery of life-saving supplies
Haiti Earthquake Relief
In August 2021, a 7.2 earthquake rocked Haiti, devastating cities, destroying homes and infrastructure, and burying people in the rubble of collapsed buildings. This earthquake was stronger than the 2010 earthquake, which resulted in more than 200,000 casualties. We have been working in Haiti since 1997, and is responding immediately with emergency support, while also planning for a longer-term response. A gift will enable us to support relief efforts like this around the world.
Creating Local Jobs in Southern Haiti
Peace Winds is partnering with several community groups in Haiti's Southern Department, the Sud, to provide members with resources and training in areas such as sewing, fishing, and cashew and peanut production. Many groups like these have been impacted by natural disasters such as Hurricane Matthew in 2015 and the major earthquake in 2021. With your support, Peace Winds is helping community members gain the skills they need to work in important sectors and support themselves and their families.
Responding to Humanitarian Crisis in Haiti
HRI IS RESPONDING TO A MASSIVE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN HAITI! HRI's physician, nurse, social worker, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) specialist, and other professional staff are partnering with one of the few operational hospitals that is severely understaffed due to the current situation to provide professional medical, WASH and hygiene services to victims of this extreme violence! We are also activating our Mobile Medical Clinic to serve displaced persons and serving 13 orphanages!
2021 Haiti Earthquake Relief
Over 11 years since a magnitude 7.0 earthquake decimated Port-Au-Prince, another 7.2 magnitude earthquake has hit just 72 miles south of the country's capital. At a time when Haiti is facing crises at all fronts - a wave of COVID-19 with lack of access to vaccines, political turmoil, heightened food insecurity, and hurricane season just beginning - this could not come at a worse time. PIH has been a trusted figure in the community from 1986 through today and moving forward.
