Our Solar project is moving ahead. Our solar contractor waited patiently for us to raise the funds for the project and is now updating his plans and confirming his bid. He completed a site inspection and started the detailed drawings and engineering specifications. After a review by the electric authorities, here are a few things that still need to be worked out.
Our current electrical system needs some updating to get it to code and that will require getting confirmation from an electrical contractor (they are in high demand and we will have to wait our turn). Our current buildings have grown up over time, as we had a clear need and were able to raise the funds. This has resulted in a range of building materials and varying degrees of electrical complexity. The Children's Homes have been the first to keep to code, along with the Community Education Center, "Barb's Place". The second well and biochar production equipment let to 3 phase power feeds. Still, always done to the most basic level to minimize cost.
We now require 6-7 electrical distribution boxes, re-using a few and adding at least 4. There are 4 locations like the wire connections at the top of the existing pillars (two photos), where a distribution box with circuit breakers needs to be installed instead of direct-connect wires.
We are confident that our solar contractor will get this all worked out. We will keep you posted.
Thank you for investing in us!
