This project will help 1,500 widows and orphans in Nigeria get basic health coverage. Over 21 million widows and 10 million children have lost family support - many due to Boko Haram insurgency, Fulani herder attacks, floods, famine, sexual/gender-based violence (SGBV), and preventable disease caused by poor access to healthcare. We'll cover medical bills, offer health education, and connect them to care so they can begin to rebuild their lives.
Millions of widows and orphans in Nigeria are struggling to access even basic healthcare. Many lost their families due to conflict, herds men attacks, floods, or preventable diseases, and now have no one to support them. Some sleep under bridges, in slums, or in overcrowded IDP camps. Without money, they skip hospital visits, live with untreated illnesses, and are at risk of getting worse. Most of them don't know where to turn for help or can't afford care even when it's nearby.
This project will provide medical care for 1,500 widows and orphans who can't afford treatment. We'll cover hospital bills and medicines for emergencies, chronic conditions, and preventable diseases like malaria, infections, and malnutrition - plus regular check-ups. Widows and orphans will be trained in practical health skills like hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. We'll also distribute essential kits such as mosquito nets, sanitary pads, and clean birth supplies for pregnant widows.
This project will shield 1,500 widows and orphans from health-related poverty by giving them access to medical care, health education, and life-saving supplies by preventing treatable illnesses and reducing catastrophic and unaffordable medical expenses. With better access to care. This interventions will reduce preventable deaths and lessen their reliance on emergency aid and close funding gaps. This will help them maintain stability and self-sufficiency, enabling them to cater for themselves.
