Dear Donors,
Thank you for your continued support and for standing with vulnerable widows and orphans through the Health Coverage for Widows and Orphans in Need project. Your generosity continues to give hope to families struggling to survive without proper healthcare support.
As shared in our last report, the available funds were enough to begin health coverage support for six families through selected HMOs and partner hospitals. Plans were already underway for beneficiary enrollment, hospital linkage, and health coverage activation.
However, implementation has experienced delays because the data capturing process by the selected HMO team has not yet been completed. This is largely due to limited road access to some of the rural communities where the widows and orphans are based. Reaching these areas has been difficult, slowing down registration and enrollment activities.
Many widows and orphans in these communities continue to face untreated illnesses, poor living conditions, and limited access to hospitals and medicines. Some are elderly, while others are children living without stable family support.
Despite the challenges, preparations for implementation are still ongoing. Once the data capturing exercise is completed, beneficiaries will be linked to hospitals and enrolled into the health coverage program for medical care, medicines, check-ups, and essential health support.
We also remain hopeful for additional support, which will help us expand coverage beyond the first six families and reach more widows and orphans who urgently need healthcare assistance.
In our next report, we hope to share updates from the enrollment process, including beneficiary photos, participating hospitals, and HMO details.
