Challenge

The project continues to target unemployed individuals living in South Africa's poverty-stricken Cape Flats townships. People living in the densely populated Cape Flats experience high unemployment (50-90%), hunger, environmental degradation, lack of education and skills, a high HIV/AIDS infection rate and limited resources.

Solution

Activities continue to include urban agriculture and horticulture training, resource distribution, implementation of gardens, follow-up training and support.

Long-Term Impact

Hunger, unemployment and environmental degradation are visibly reduced as individuals establish sustainable vegetable and indigenous gardens.

This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).
