The search for a new program assistant begins...

By Jennifer Schechter (for PMTCT Program Coordinator) | Executive Director

Hope Through Health's local partner, AED-Lidaw, has launched a search to hire a new assistant for the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) program.  As this program expands to serve more women, our outstanding Program Director is in need of some assistance.  According to HTH policy, AED-Lidaw will be recruiting primarily from inside its membership.  This means that many qualified women, who are themselves living with HIV and who have been through the PMTCT program, we be applying for this position.  This position will create an incredible opportunity for a highly motivated woman, who may lack formal education, but clearly has expertise in the PMTCT program.  The program assistant will receive comprehensive training and support in order to take on the responsibilities of the position.  A number of PMTCT program participants are eligible and eager to apply.

HTH believes that no one is better qualified or more effective in program management roles than the people who have lived through the programs themselves.  We have found time and again that the participants and beneficiaries of our programs intimately understand the challenges and strategies required to be effective.  These participants-turned-leaders are also able to provide the most authentic and responsive support to other program participants.  HTH is proud of this capacity building element of all of its programs, including the PMTCT program, and strongly believes in maximizing the human capital found within the communities with which we partner.  HTH is confident that an amazing woman will soon be stepping into the role of PMTCT program assistant.  This woman will serve as an invaluable mentor to other women living with HIV hoping to give birth to healthy HIV-free babies.
