Highlights Of What We Accomplished Together-2023

The problem is clear. Due to poverty and lack of resources the majority of children in the rural areas of Zimbabwe are still being denied the right to reach their full potential. Unlike the urban areas where children have access to high quality early childhood development and learning programs such programs are either non-existent or not as effective in the rural areas due to lack of resources.

Our vision for this project is to provide high quality early childhood education to rural kids. We firmly believe that children who receive the best start in life are more likely to succeed in school and to end up as productive members of society.

In keeping with this vision we offer high quality early childhood education through our Beautiful Beginnings preschool. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for making this work possible. A big thank you to New England Pentecostal Ministries and friends of the foundation who donated the preschool furniture you see in these pictures and for helping us with the funds to ship the items to Zimbabwe.

Highlights Of Our Organization’s 2023 Accomplishments

1. Official Opening of Our Beautiful Beginnings Preschool

The grand opening ceremony of the Beautiful Beginnings Preschool marked a momentous occasion, bringing together parents, educators, community leaders, and little ones to celebrate the commencement of a new era in early childhood education. Held on December16, 2023 at our state-of-the-art facility, the event was filled with joy, excitement, and anticipation for the wonderful journey ahead.

The preschool opening event was not just a celebration for the school community but also a platform to foster meaningful connections with the broader community. Local leaders, Pastors from different churches, dignitaries, and representatives from neighboring schools joined us in commemorating this significant milestone, reaffirming our commitment to collaborative partnerships and community involvement.

The event commenced with the Master of Ceremony, Mr Mundeta giving a warm welcome, followed by the preschool Director, Mrs Gata welcoming the distinguished guests including the guest of honor, Mr Gabaza, the Provincial Education Director from the Ministry of Education of Zimbabwe. Then Reverend Thabete gave a charge to the youth to take on the burden of making a difference in their communities.

The day was filled with a variety of activities. The preschool's budding talents gave an enchanting performance. The children's enthusiasm and creativity set the stage for a delightful day filled with various activities and programs designed to engage both children and parents alike.The activities ranged from Cultural Dances by students from Mbeure and Rimbi Primary School, entertainment by our Scouts, Preschool kids receiving toys, Ribbon Cutting Ceremony by Mr Gabaza & Chief Rimbi to Parents and guests being treated to guided tours of the preschool's facilities.

At around 1:00 pm lunch was served. While people enjoyed their lunch, the vibrant sounds of drums and traditional music filled the air as students from Mbeure & Rimbi Primary Schools provided entertainment. As the day drew to a close, hearts were filled with gratitude and optimism for the promising journey ahead. The preschool opening event was an overwhelming success! It served as a testament to our unwavering dedication to providing children with a nurturing and stimulating environment where they can thrive, learn, and discover the joy of learning every day.

2. We provided schools fees to 51 students; 28 High School students, 20 Primary level students and 3 college level students. We also gave school supplies to over 60 students.

3. We provided uniforms to 75 scouts and we also sponsored them to attend camping events

Rimbi High-Beneficiaries of Our Education Program

Thank you very much for your continued support of our Education project. This project is at the heart of the Tekeshe Foundation and is our strategy for unlocking doors of opportunity for disadvantaged rural kids to lift them out of poverty. When you empower kids to acquire an education, you transform their lives and build a better future for them. This is in line with the quote by Nelson Mandela regarding the power of education: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

As part of the Education programme we also offer a Youth program that focuses on the developement of young people and a preschool program that aims to provide the best start in life to preschool children in these rural areas. According to research, children who complete preschool programs are more advanced in literacy, creativity, initiative, and social skills and they are more likely to succeed in school and to end up as productive members of society. At our preschool, we provide early childhood development and learning through play.

In keeping with the vision of the Education program, The Tekeshe Foundation provides school uniforms, school fees and school supplies to disadvantaged rural kids.

Update on students who receive sponsorship

I am pleased to announce that, this semester through your donations; the Tekeshe Foundation provided school fees in the amount of $1,960 to 49 students: 28 students from Rimbi High; 14 students from Rimbi Primary; 6 students from Mbeure Primary; 1 student from Mt Selinda High; 1 student from Mutare Polytechnic College and 1 student from Great Zimbabwe university. We also gave school supplies to over 60 students. Here is what the Rimbi Primary headmaster had to say:

“Rimbi Primary, SDC (School Development Committe) and the community at large would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Tekeshe Foundation for the payment of $360 towards school fees for our underpriviledged children. We really appreciate this assistance since it will go a long way in assisting the parents and children who are in need. We really thank you and pray that God will continue to bless the hand that gave. “

Update on Youth Development

As part of the Youth Program, we offer a scouting program. This year, through your help, we sponsored the scouts to attend two camping trips. We also sponsored them to host a camping event in Rimbi township.

Preschool Update

The preschool is doing very well. This year our school has seen an increase in enrollment from thirty to 106 kids. As a result we had to increase the number of our staff members. We now have four teachers and two ladies who prepare porridge for the kids and are also responsible for cleaning the school premises. We are pleased to announced that as part of the annual shipment to Zimbabwe we sent preschool furniture and educational supplies. We want to express our sincere gratitude to NEP Ministries for donating the preschool furniture and the school supplies. We also want to thank the friends of the foundation for helping us with the shipping cost.

We accomplished a lot together in 2023! We couldn’t have done it without your help! We hope that your hearts will be filled with joy this Christmas season as you reflect on the difference you have made to the kids in these rural kids,

Providing The Best Start In Life To Preschool Kids

Thank you very much for your continued support of our Education Project. The vision of this project is to use education to unlock doors of opportunity for disadvantaged rural kids to get them out of poverty. This project also aims to provide the best start in life to preschool children in these rural areas.These are some of the benefits of early childhood education:

Children learn skills such as, cooperating, persevering, sharing, teamwork and resilience. It is crucial for kids to learn these skills at an early age.
Children build their social skills at an early age.
Children develop self-esteem and confidence at an early age.
Good values such as respect and honesty are inculcated at an early age.
Children who complete preschool programs are more advanced in literacy, creativity, initiative, and social skills and they are more likely to succeed in school and to end up as productive members of society.

Sadly, due to poverty and lack of resources the majority of children in the rural areas in Zimbabwe are still being denied the right to reach their full potential. Unlike the urban areas where children have access to high quality early childhood development and learning programs such programs are either non-existent or not as effective in the rural areas due to lack of resources. Your donations make it possible for the Tekeshe Foundation to continue to provide high quality early childhood education to rural kids. We are committed to providing the best start in life to children in these rural areas.

As you can you see in the attached pictures, the pre-school program is doing very well. A typical day at the pre-school includes structured playtime, story time, games, singing and playing with all kinds of toys including educational toys. The children's favorite time is when they get to play with toys and ride bikes. The toys and bikes were donated by New England Pentecostal Ministries and friends of the foundation in the US. This year we purchased more playground equipment from South Africa.

As you can see in the attached pictures, the kids are having a good time. This is what one of the teachers had to say:

Pre-school Building Project Update
We are pleased to announce that the classrooms are ready. As you can see in the attached pictures, the lessons are now being conducted in the new classrooms. What's left is to complete the teachers' offices, library and toilets. We are also in need of children's books, furniture and educational toys.
