Help 1000 Street Begging Children with Work Skills

By Joy O. Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We sincerely thank everyone who has donated to this project so far. Your kindness has given us the push we needed to begin taking the first steps. With the donations received, we are now ready to start training for the children who beg on the streets.

At the moment, our team is working on getting permission from the parents and guardians of these children. For those who have parents, we are visiting their homes and discussing how their children can join the program safely. For children without parents, we have written a formal letter to the chairman of their association to get consent on their behalf. Once this process is finalized, we will begin enrolment and start the training sessions immediately.

These children spend their days moving from street to street, begging for food or small money. Many have never been to school, and some sleep in unsafe places. Without help, they risk growing up without any means to survive except begging or street work. Through this project, we plan to train 1,000 of them in practical hand skills such as tailoring, shoemaking, welding, and mechanics.

Our goal is to help them earn honest income and find purpose beyond begging. The training will take place in safe spaces, with meals and basic care provided during the sessions.

We are grateful to our first donor for making this start possible. Although the funds are still limited, they are enough to begin with the first group once permissions are secured. We hope more supporters will join soon so we can expand the training to reach even more children.

Together, we can help these young ones leave the streets and start building a future filled with hope and self-reliance.

With regards,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
