Community education is a key for victims

By Johannes Shikuloh | Project Leader

It's about the flooding period across the northern regions in Namibia. Heavy rain is already received in Angola that the same expected to be received in northern Namibia.

Flooding is expected during months of February, march, April and mid of May. During these months, over 500 households will affected by flooding and more then 70% of the community members will be in situation of looking for the support.

Community will be relocated to high Land until the month of June when flooding is subdued. Community members including expectant mothers and children will be supported with food packages, mosquito nets, sanitation and clean water.

School going children will be provided with friendly space for playing, kept busy since the formal schools are expected to be closed until the time flooding is declared off. This project will be at forefront to provide necessary support mostly to the children and young women to be kept safe during that unprecedented time.

As this situation will be associated with anxiety, diseases, loss of economy, community is expected to stressful and needs psychosocial support and counseling, our team members will be on the ground to offer necessary support in our mandate and provide referrals for the total healings.
