A meal made the difference between a school closing and a school thriving.
For the first time in many years, St. Benard Mwenge Primary School has more than 15 Primary Leaving Candidates — enough to retain its school center number. Story: Not long ago, St. Benard Mwenge Primary was at risk of closing. Enrollment had dropped so low that the school could no longer meet the national requirement for exam candidates. Families wanted their children to learn, but many students stayed home because they didn’t have food during the day.
Everything began to change when the school feeding program was introduced. With the assurance of a daily meal, children started returning to class. Attendance grew week by week. Teachers saw renewed energy, smiles, and determination among the learners.
This simple act — providing a nutritious meal — has brought life back to a struggling school. For the first time in years, St. Benard Mwenge Primary now has a full class of candidates ready to take their national exams. The feeding program didn’t just fill stomachs; it restored hope for education in this community.
Thank you for believing in this project and giving children the chance to learn, grow, and dream again. Your generosity has not only sustained the school but also secured its future.
