Aakanksha has big dreams. When she was younger, she wanted to join the film industry and even succeeded in getting into college. However, her home life was extremely volatile and unstable and affected her ability to concentrate. She decided to leave, hoping that with a stable environment she could focus all her attention on her studies.
Usually, our project intercepts women who are vulnerable to trafficking. They are often homeless, and Urja provides an emergency safe space for them. Aakanksha was a rare case. She heard about Urja and contacted the project herself, asking if they could help her in pursuing an education and chase her goals. She is a very ambitious woman who wants to make a better life for herself.
Fortunately, Urja had space for her.
She settled in quickly and began a multitude of activities including therapy, yoga, art sessions and educational tutoring. Due to her difficult childhood, Aakanksha struggles to express her emotions and is often overwhelmed by them. The project has enabled her to express them in healthier ways and she feels clearer and more determined than ever.
Currently, she is looking for a job in the film industry and Urja is helping her with applications.
We can’t wait to hear what Aakanksha achieves!
Thank you so much for your support!
