Many teenage mothers in Kano drop out of school after childbirth due to stigma, lack of childcare, or school fees. This project will support 65 young mothers to return to school by covering school supplies, fees, and basic childcare. They will also receive mentoring and life-skills training to help balance school and parenting. Safe childcare spaces will be arranged near schools to ease their return. With these tools, they can complete their education and plan for a better future.
Teenage mothers in Kano often stop schooling due to shame, childcare issues, or family pressure. Many are left without support and face judgment from teachers and other students. Without education, they struggle to find work and often remain in poverty. Some try to go back but lack money for fees, uniforms, or books. This leaves them stuck with little chance to change their future or raise healthy children.
It will support 65 teenage mothers with school fees, uniforms, books, and basic childcare. The project will link them with mentors and female teachers who understand their needs. Safe childcare will be arranged close to school, allowing them to attend without worry. Each girl will get life-skills sessions to help manage parenting and studies. This support will help them stay in school and gain the confidence to keep going.
Teenage mothers who return to school are more likely to raise healthy, educated children. Education can reduce early marriage, second unplanned pregnancy, and long-term poverty. They become better informed about health, parenting, and income-generating skills. Their children also benefit from a more stable and better-educated parent. Over time, this can create stronger families and communities in low-income areas of Kano.
