Thank you for your support over the years!
By Eimi Olson | Project Leader
Thank you so much for all of your generous support over the years. You have helped NYF to keep so many families together through our Kinship Care program. While NYF will continue supporting these families, our fundraising efforts on GlobalGiving will now focus on providing immediate COVID-19 relief to families in Nepal.
As a result, we will be concluding this project on GlobalGiving. We are so grateful to each and every one of you who have helped to make this project a success.
We hope you’ll continue to support NYF’s ongoing efforts to empower Nepalese families and children. Please check out the projects we’ve launched in response to the current global crisis:
Thank you again!

A Reunited Family: Thanks to You!

“Chadani” was born in prison. Her father, who has mental disabilities and can barely speak, was struggling to provide for Chadani and her four older siblings. In a desperate plea for help, he brought her to Olgapuri – NYF’s permanent home for orphaned, abandoned, and at-risk children.
For several years, Chadani lived in the safety and security of our children’s home. Our team stayed in touch with Chadani’s family as their situation stabilized over time.
It is a joy to announce that with Kinship Care support from NYF, Chadani has been able to return to live with her family.
Though Chadani’s mother is still absent, her siblings are now old enough to take care of her. Her older brother is 23 years old, and left school early to work to provide for the entire family. Her oldest sister, at 20 years old, will be the one caring for Chadani.
As much as Chadani enjoyed living at Olgapuri, you can see from the smile on her face that she is thrilled to be back home. NYF is pleased to be able to provide Kinship Care support to help the siblings stay together, and care for their father.
Generous support from friends like you helped to not only provide a safe home for Chadani at Olgapuri when she needed it – but also enabled her to return home and live with her family when she was able to.
Thank you.

Your support keeps children like Palisha in school

Just over a year ago, 16-year-old “Palisha” suddenly lost her father to cancer. His death was devastating to the family in so many ways. In addition to their grief, her family lost their only source of income. Palisha, her mother, and her younger brother were forced to leave behind their entire life in eastern Nepal to live with her grandparents in a rented room in Kathmandu.
Both Palisha and her brother are bright students, but going to school in Kathmandu became increasingly difficult day by day as their grandparents struggled to pay for their needs. Palisha was especially stressed, since her important Secondary Education Examination (SEE) was just around the corner.
With NYF’s Kinship Care scholarship now covering their school expenses, Palisha and her brother can stay in school without worry. Palisha had the time and energy to prepare for her exams, and passed with an extremely high A-grade. Encouraged by her scholarship, she plans to attend a three-year diploma course in nursing, and is currently studying for the entrance exam.
Thank YOU for helping so many kids like Palisha stay in school and build a brighter future. Your generosity makes such a difference.
