In 2015-2016 after two major earthquakes devastated much of Nepal and displaced thousands of families, NYF accepted 743 children into Earthquake Kinship Care. With your help, of these 743 children able to remain safe with their parents or relatives through NYF’s Kinship Care program, over 150 families have regained self-sufficiency. Nearly 600 families continue to receive support, including Anjali and her grandfather.
Thirteen year old Anjali was one of the first children accepted into Earthquake Kinship Care. Her life was shattered in a moment, when her parents and brothers were buried in a landslide during the 2015 earthquakes.
Two years later, Anjali and her grandfather are rebuilding their lives together. In her familiar school, surrounded by friends, Anjali is healing and has a brighter future.
As NYF completes the earthquake response that generous donors like you made possible, we remain committed to supporting displaced and vulnerable children through our comprehensive programs until they are self-sufficient.
