Summary

COVID-19, or Coronavirus, has accentuated an already dire situation in Venezuela, especially for abandoned, community and rescue dogs & cats. During the past month (since mid-March), Venezuela is under a mandatory quarantine, which strongly limits the possibilities of survival to millions of dogs & and cats across the country. We are providing food, emergency vet care and support to thousands of animals, but we need your help to continue extending our reach.

Challenge

As a result of COVID-19, the dire situation is Venezuela has even worsen. Animals in the streets have even more limited access to food & water, to veterinary assistance (as this service has not been excluded of the mandatory quarantine), and the few persons that were helping animals now cant travel distances to feed, for example, stray dogs around their work areas. Also our NGO is unable to conduct spay&neuter campaigns and our team is now struggling to feed their own rescue animals

Solution

We are creating a fund to help individuals feed an additional number of dogs and cats in their communities, to make sure as many animals on the streets as possible have access to food. But people feeding animals in the street were already stretched on their resources, so we are offering them help to cover and help some additional animals in their communities. Also, we are helping our team feed their animals by continue to paying them an amount that will help them with this.

Long-Term Impact

If we dont address this situation right now, more animals will be in the streets as a result of a total stop on our spay & neutering campaigns that fixed around 1,000 animals every month. Also, more animals will be on an even worse situation as a result of a delayed veterinary help. Community dogs and cats will continue to be fed in more places if we can secure funds for community leaders to expand a bit their normal scope of attention.
