You Made a Difference in Their Lives!

Winston - Senior blind cat
Winston - Senior blind cat

Hello, friends –

We’ve only been with GlobalGiving since July of this year but already you’ve helped our cats see a future they could only have dreamed of!

We have welcomed three cats who were abandoned and living on the street in harm’s way.   Meet:

Winston was rescued by our spay/neuter program vet from a hard life on the street as a stray. This blind senior kitty has heart and kidney problems but we’re making sure he is treated for both conditions and is cared for, safe and loved.

Bandit was also living a hard life as an unfixed male cat living on the streets. A very nice person rescued him but when he tested positive for feline-leukemia, his adoption chances went to zero. She wanted to be sure he was safe, so he came to BCR, where he’s been fixed and is healthy and very happy.

DiAngelo is scarred from his many years living on the streets of New Orleans. This blind, FIV+ senior kitty was rescued by a good Samaritan who took him in and nursed him back to health when he was starving. When she had to move, she wanted to know he would be safe and loved so he came to BCR. He’s one of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet, and he’ll never have to be afraid or alone again.

Many of our blind cats are in their senior years and experience conditions that come along with age. Five of our older cats (Bear, Sargent, Popcorn, Misty, and Izzy) have feline arthritic conditions and receive regular pain management treatments that include medications, supplements, and cold laser therapy, which is very helpful to them. The pain management cost for these cats is $1,250 a month, or $15,000 a year. Other cats require fluids each day due to kidney failure. Your generous donations to our campaign help make sure these treatments are there to keep our senior cats as comfortable and happy as possible.

BCR is also home to many feline-leukemia positive cats, who can develop very serious conditions quickly, including FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) and require additional tests and monitoring due to their positive status. We’ll be there to do that for them thanks to you - to be prepared to offer them whatever it takes to make them comfortable for any condition that might occur.
Care and medical expenses add up quickly – daily medications, supplements, treatments, and vet visits. Your generosity helps us fulfill the promise we make to every cat that comes to BCR – that we’ll take care of them for the rest of their lives, however long they are with us.

We thank you for showing our cats that their lives matter and that they deserve to have lives full of love and compassion.

With deep gratitude,
The Blind Cat Rescue Cats and the Staff Who Cares for Them
