Compassion = Saving Lives!

By Sam Steffens | Executive Director

Lemon, Lime & Orange - The Citrus Kittens
Lemon, Lime & Orange - The Citrus Kittens

Hello, friends –

It’s been a busy few months at Blind Cat Rescue! Our mission is to provide a safe, loving and healthy permanent home to cats who would be euthanized in most shelters or animal control facilities – blind cats and those who test positive for FIV or feline leukemia. With your donations, you help us do that and are literally saving lives!

While we’ve said several very sad goodbyes to several BCR cats since September, we have also been able to welcome new cats who will have a full life thanks to you!  Please meet:

Lemon, Lime & Orange – This trio started life in a community cat colony. As part of a trap-neuter-release effort, they tested positive for feline leukemia. They were taken in by a wonderful angel who knew they could not go back to their colony and needed a safe place to live. They are very playful and loving additions to BCR.

Ozzy – After his longtime owner died and being on the verge of getting dumped in a shelter as a blind cat – surely a death sentence - this handsome and affectionate guy unexpectedly arrived at BCR.  We love seeing him happily explore, play and share his love with everyone.

Anakin - He was a shelter cat with a home all lined up – until he tested positive for feline leukemia.  Knowing a shelter was a death sentence for him, his angels called us.  At first very shy and afraid, Anakin has relaxed now and knows he’s safe in his forever home.

Kirby – This tiny sweetheart started life as a barn kitty.  When she was discovered there, she weighed 1 lb 13 ounces, was very anemic, had hookworms and tested positive for feline leukemia.  A very kind woman decided to help her so she nursed her back to health and got her to BCR. Kirby is so playful loves everyone!

These cats’ lives have been turned around thanks to big-hearted people like you. Thanks to you, they will always know their lives matter and that they are safe. The best gift you could ever give them!

Your support also helps us keep our promise to our senior cats who are experiencing the problems that come with age – chiefly arthritis and joint pain. We continue to provide them with pain management medication, supplements and treatments, all of which help them stay comfortable and happy. Among our senior cats are also two who are diabetic and require daily insulin and two who receive daily fluids to help aging kidneys. These special cases are in addition to the regular veterinary checkups, vaccinations, dental exams and cleanings, and therapies that go on every day. As you know, these costs add up quickly and your generosity is critical in helping us cover those costs for our cats.

No matter what comes their way, the cats at BCR will always receive the care they need to be as comfortable and happy as possible – thanks to you. Your generous donations to this campaign allow us to keep this all-important promise to them.

Thank you for sharing your love and compassion with our cats! If you find yourself near BCR on your travels this year (along I95 in the Eastern US), we really hope you’ll stop in and see how your donations translate into active care!

With deep gratitude,
Sam and the Cats
