Expanding Water Access Through Borehole Drilling
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Expanding Water Access Through Borehole Drilling
Development Alert continues to address water scarcity by drilling new boreholes in underserved communities. During this reporting period, new water sources have been established in areas that previously had no access to safe water. This intervention has transformed daily life, improving health outcomes and reducing the burden of water collection.
Children are now able to attend school more regularly, while families are experiencing fewer health issues related to contaminated water. The availability of clean water has also supported small-scale economic activities such as farming and food preparation. Community members have been actively involved in the project, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility.
Despite these achievements, many communities still lack access to safe water. Continued donor support will be essential in expanding borehole drilling efforts and ensuring that more people benefit from this life-changing resource

Restoring Clean water through well rehabilitation
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Restoring Water Access Through Borehole Rehabilitation
With your generousity, Development Alert has continued to improve access to clean water through borehole repair initiatives. During this reporting period, several non-functional boreholes were rehabilitated, restoring water access to hundreds of households. These repairs have significantly reduced reliance on unsafe water sources such as rivers and open wells.
The impact has been immediate and far-reaching. Families now have access to safe water within their communities, reducing the time and effort required to fetch water. Women and children, who bear the burden of water collection, are particularly benefiting from this intervention. Improved access to clean water has also led to better hygiene practices and reduced cases of waterborne diseases.
Community members have been trained on proper maintenance to ensure sustainability of the repaired boreholes. However, many more water sources remain in need of repair. Continued donor support will enable Development Alert to expand this initiative and ensure that more communities benefit from reliable access to clean water.

Empowering Communities Through Awareness Creation

Empowering Communities Through Awareness Creation
Development Alert continues to recognize awareness creation as a powerful tool for sustainable change. During this reporting period, the organization conducted multiple community sensitization sessions focused on hygiene, sanitation, education, environmental conservation, and preventive health practices.
These sessions have empowered individuals with knowledge that directly improves their daily lives. Community members are now adopting better hygiene practices, leading to a noticeable reduction in preventable diseases. Schools have also played a key role, with students acting as ambassadors of change by sharing knowledge with their families.
The organization has worked closely with local leaders to ensure that awareness messages are culturally appropriate and widely accepted. This collaborative approach has strengthened community ownership of development initiatives. Awareness creation is not only improving current conditions but also ensuring long-term sustainability of interventions. However, many communities still lack access to such information.
Continued donor support will enable Development Alert to expand its outreach and empower more individuals with knowledge that transforms lives.
