Help Educate 40 Bright Girls in Lesotho

On behalf of Educare Fund, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your generous contributions. We are particularly grateful for your support during the recent GlobalGiving 2026 Little by Little campaign. Your support plays a vital role in advancing our mission, and we are truly honoured by your commitment. Your gifts enable us to continue our work with greater impact and purpose.

With your support, 42 girls finished high school in 2025. The results were mixed, but 16% of the girls achieved grades that put them on track to progress to tertiary education, including university. The rest of the group achieved a range of grades that will enable them to pursue skills-based training in jobs such as hairdressing, tailoring, plumbing, electrical installation, and several other entry-level roles. They can also access jobs in areas such as office assistant, cashier, shop assistant, waitress, and office runner. Their success in this regard depends on the availability of jobs in the country, since, in some cases, these GCSE graduates may have to compete for lower-level jobs with individuals who have higher-level qualifications, such as diplomas or university degrees. Of course, these girls would be much worse off without their GCSE qualifications.

This year, we are expecting another 26 girls to complete their high school education. It goes without saying that none of this would be achievable without your generous support. We remain dedicated to stewarding your contribution responsibly and ensuring it directly supports the initiatives that matter most.

In February, I had the opportunity to visit one of the schools attended by some of the girls in the cohort. I was really impressed by their enthusiasm for their education and their plans to improve their futures. Listening to them talking about their goals was truly uplifting. This is what Lerato said:

I am grateful for this opportunity to improve my life chances. I am working hard to realise my dream of becoming an engineer.

Your Support Is Changing Lesotho Students' Futures

I hope you’re doing well. As we approach the end of another successful year of our partnership with you and reflect on the past few months, all of us at Educare Fund are filled with gratitude for your generosity. Your support through the year, and especially during this year’s #GivingTuesday campaign, is truly heart-warming. Your commitment has helped us approach the end of the year and look forward to the coming year with refreshed strength and renewed purpose.

Thanks to contributions like yours, another forty-two young women in our cohort wrote their final high school exams last month. Once they get their results, they will be able to spread their wings and soar toward further successes. Your gifts through the year, during the recent #GivingTuesday as well as the current year-end campaign support are playing a direct role in making our work possible. This year, your support has enabled us to provide improved Maths learning materials for students in our schools, ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed. Additionally, we have focused on strengthening Maths teacher engagement, equipping them with the tools and confidence to offer targeted student support in Maths. These efforts together are transforming classrooms, making them more dynamic and supportive learning environments, opening new opportunities for young people by fostering their academic growth and confidence in Maths.

In the words of one of the girls, your support achieves more than just getting the girls through high school. Here is what Matseliso says:

“Your support has done more than just pay for my education; it has empowered me, shaped my character, and given me a vision for my future. I carry the values you instilled in me and hope to pay them forward in my career and in my community. Thank you once again for investing in my dreams and walking with me through the most critical stages of my life. May the incredible work you do continue to transform lives as mine has been transformed.”

Thank you for continuing to make this project a success

Teboho is one of our earlier graduates

On behalf of everyone at Educare Fund, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous support. Your contributions are not just donations—they are a powerful act of kindness that helps us continue our mission to support the education of the young women from disadvantaged families in Lesotho.

Thanks to donors like you, we’ve been able to cover the school fees for the entire cohort of 83 girls, including exam fees for the 37 who will be writing exams and graduating from high school this year. Your donations also helped us to continue with the Maths support project we started last year in four out of the 21 schools receiving support. Running the project in the four schools enabled us to find out how helpful the Maths teachers found it. The positive feedback we received from the four schools was immensely helpful in informing our decision to extend the support to all the schools on our list. This year, we have been able to extend the Maths support to all the schools on our list, reaching whole classes in both grade 8 and grade 9 in the schools that were already part of the project. We have also extended the project to reach grade 8 classes in the schools that are new to the project. This, of course, is all due to your exceedingly kind donations.

Your generosity is making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. In 2024, 15 girls finished high school, while this year, 36 young women will be writing their final high school exams. High school graduates from previous years, on and off, send us feedback on where they are in their careers. I am attaching Mpepuoa’s letter to this report so that you can see for yourselves what your kindness means to individual girls. She graduated from university a few years ago and is now working. I hope this lets you know what a great job you are all doing.

We believe that real change is built on compassion, and your support reminds us that we are not alone in this journey. Thank you for standing with us and believing in our cause.
