Because of You, Girls in Lesotho Can Keep Dreaming

Dear Friend

Today, we simply want to say thank you.

Because of your continued support, girls in Lesotho are staying in school, overcoming challenges, and holding on to dreams that might otherwise have slipped away.

For many of the girls we support, attending high school is not easy. Every day, they face obstacles that can make education seem out of reach. Yet, because compassionate people like you believe in them, they can walk through the school gates with hope, confidence, and the knowledge that someone cares about their future.

Your generosity is more than a donation. It is a message to each girl that says, “You matter. Your education matters. Your future matters.” In a few months’ time, 26 more girls will write their final high school exams and go on to greater achievements.

In June this year, our local team in Lesotho held another successful annual weekend workshop for the 83 girls in our cohort. We wish you could see the smiles, hear the aspirations, and witness the determination of the girls whose lives you are changing. They are studying harder, dreaming bigger, and looking to the future with hope because of supporters like you.

One of these girls, Ts’epang, shared:

"There was a time when I thought I would have to leave school because my family could not afford everything I needed. I was afraid that my dreams of becoming a teacher would end. Through the support I received, I was able to stay in school and continue my studies. Now I believe I can achieve my goals and help other children in my community one day. Thank you for believing in me."

Mampe is one of our earliest graduates. Now a parent, she is helping her own children through education. Since completing her first degree, she has worked in various roles in the Lesotho government. Her passion for education continues, and she has since added further qualifications to her list of achievements. In her own words, Mampe pays homage to you all. Here’s what she says:

From the bottom of my heart, I give thanks to my former high school principal, the founder, and everyone at Educare Fund who facilitated the award of the sponsorship to me. I really don't have any idea what would have become of me if they hadn’t chipped in...

Your kindness is helping young women gain an education, discover their potential, and build lives filled with opportunity and purpose.

Thanking you for being amazing

On behalf of Educare Fund, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your generous contributions. We are particularly grateful for your support during the recent GlobalGiving 2026 Little by Little campaign. Your support plays a vital role in advancing our mission, and we are truly honoured by your commitment. Your gifts enable us to continue our work with greater impact and purpose.

With your support, 42 girls finished high school in 2025. The results were mixed, but 16% of the girls achieved grades that put them on track to progress to tertiary education, including university. The rest of the group achieved a range of grades that will enable them to pursue skills-based training in jobs such as hairdressing, tailoring, plumbing, electrical installation, and several other entry-level roles. They can also access jobs in areas such as office assistant, cashier, shop assistant, waitress, and office runner. Their success in this regard depends on the availability of jobs in the country, since, in some cases, these GCSE graduates may have to compete for lower-level jobs with individuals who have higher-level qualifications, such as diplomas or university degrees. Of course, these girls would be much worse off without their GCSE qualifications.

This year, we are expecting another 26 girls to complete their high school education. It goes without saying that none of this would be achievable without your generous support. We remain dedicated to stewarding your contribution responsibly and ensuring it directly supports the initiatives that matter most.

In February, I had the opportunity to visit one of the schools attended by some of the girls in the cohort. I was really impressed by their enthusiasm for their education and their plans to improve their futures. Listening to them talking about their goals was truly uplifting. This is what Lerato said:

I am grateful for this opportunity to improve my life chances. I am working hard to realise my dream of becoming an engineer.

Your Support Is Changing Lesotho Students' Futures

I hope you’re doing well. As we approach the end of another successful year of our partnership with you and reflect on the past few months, all of us at Educare Fund are filled with gratitude for your generosity. Your support through the year, and especially during this year’s #GivingTuesday campaign, is truly heart-warming. Your commitment has helped us approach the end of the year and look forward to the coming year with refreshed strength and renewed purpose.

Thanks to contributions like yours, another forty-two young women in our cohort wrote their final high school exams last month. Once they get their results, they will be able to spread their wings and soar toward further successes. Your gifts through the year, during the recent #GivingTuesday as well as the current year-end campaign support are playing a direct role in making our work possible. This year, your support has enabled us to provide improved Maths learning materials for students in our schools, ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed. Additionally, we have focused on strengthening Maths teacher engagement, equipping them with the tools and confidence to offer targeted student support in Maths. These efforts together are transforming classrooms, making them more dynamic and supportive learning environments, opening new opportunities for young people by fostering their academic growth and confidence in Maths.

In the words of one of the girls, your support achieves more than just getting the girls through high school. Here is what Matseliso says:

“Your support has done more than just pay for my education; it has empowered me, shaped my character, and given me a vision for my future. I carry the values you instilled in me and hope to pay them forward in my career and in my community. Thank you once again for investing in my dreams and walking with me through the most critical stages of my life. May the incredible work you do continue to transform lives as mine has been transformed.”
