Since Salariin Kampuchea Learning Center was established for a sustainable program and framework in our community of Chreav supported by the Bookbridge organization, it was a – five-year birthday by April 2022.  In order to celebrate our successful mission in education with children in our community, our management team, teachers, and students organized and arranged a great birthday celebration. Please see our celebration activities with our team and how it comes to the progress of sustainable initiatives as follows.

A 5-Year Birthday Celebration

Together with our CAP9 alumni from Cambodia and Europe team, our students, teachers and management team, organized a five-year birthday celebration. To begin with, we made a birthday cake named Salariin Kampuchea Learning Center held by Ravy, our community hero together with our staff, students, teachers and CAP9 team and then we sang a birthday song together either directly or virtually.

We are very happy to celebrate this success among our stakeholders that we have done so far at our learning center. Everyone stated their own words and their feeling.

Finally, we ate the birthday cake together with staff, teachers and students at the celebration. Everyone had fun and enjoyed it.

Graduation and Khmer New Year Party

In order to congrate our students’ achievement, our school organized and conducted a certificate party in April 2022 for those who graduated successfully from their English, Chinese and Computer courses.

Students who graduated successfully got a certificate from the course they had finished. There were over 30 students who got certificates. They were very proud of themselves because they can do it even though it is covid-19 context.

Besides the celebration of graduation, every year our school together with students, we celebrate Khmer Tradition New Year party at our school. The aims are to review our tradition, and cultures. Our students played some Khmer traditional games for example, “Chorl Chhoung” (Throw the scarf), “Viay Ka Om” (hit the pot) …etc. The students enjoyed playing them very much with their friends and schoolmates. Furthermore, we celebrate it for a short vocation at our school. Before the term break, we celebrate it for all students. Our kids felt enthusiastic and joyful.

One of our students, Reaksmey expresses his feeling about graduation celebrations. “My name is Reaksmey. I am a student studying English at Salariin Kampuchea Organization. I feel very proud of my graduation from the English course. When I received my certificate of English, I am so excited. My parents are proud of me, too when I brought my certificate of English home”.

Another student named Sreypich, expresses her feeling about Khmer New Year Celebration. “My name is Sreypich, I have studied at Salariin Kampuchea for a year. I am very happy to participate in the Khmer New Year party. I live to play Khmer Traditional Games. It is a good opportunity to see my friends and play with them. We are here not just for studying but we can celebrate the party as well as we can eat something with schoolmates. Especially I can see the progress of my school. Finally, the school celebrates with a big cake the five-year birthday of Salariin Kampuchea learning center.

In the next three months, we are going to conduct a Spelling Bee Competition. We are going to celebrate the Pchum Ben ceremony and party with students. We are going to fix the community road and fixing school roof.

We would like to thanks everyone who supported us through GlobalGiving with your hard-earning money. Width your help we hope to continue and build upon the success of our non-formal education program.

We wish every success, happiness and enjoy it with your family and friends!

 Warmest regards,

Ravy and The Salariin Kampuchea Team
