Spelling Bee Contest
In October, our school organized and conducted A Spelling Bee Competition among our students who participated in English courses in the learning center. It is aimed to promote kids’ learning especially reading and memorizing words what they have learnt. All students are divided into two groups based on their levels and ages. A group Honey Bee is to spell 700 English words and a group Busy Bee is to spell 1,200 English words. Both groups of students consist 150 students participated and were given two months to prepare and practice in their classes as well as classroom elimination for a semi-final. 36 students passed the semi-final stage to join the final competition. Then eliminated students who passed the semi-final, they can jump to the final competition. Finally, we found six students won the competition among 36 students. Three students are from Honey Bee Competition and other three students are from Busy Bee Competition for first, second and third place. In addition, it is really competitive and challenging action to engage students’ learning and study hard because they do their best to come to the classes and to write and to memorize the words. It is initiative motivation and action to engage students to learn hard.

I am studying English at Salariin Kampuchea learning center in pre-intermediate class. I am very exciting to my first-place winning. However, I want to tell you that it is not an easy job because there are many students who outstanding students in the competition but I do my best to practice spelling the words every day at school and at home. So, it is my secret of success”.

There were over 100 certificates of graduation and appreciation letters offered to students. We are very proud of them.
Engagement with community for community road development
During the rainy season, roads in a community where our learning center located are broken and flooded and community people have difficulties to travel across the region. To solve this problem, our learning center lead this development. We talked to the neighbors and community peoples to join road fixing and development. Finally, everyone agreed to contribute the road development. In addition, we bought red soils and red soil stones to fix and put and add to lower surface and broken parts of the roads.
Furthermore, our students, teachers and community people are happy to help carry soils to fix the road. They are very active to engage these development activities.
Rithy, one of community people who joined the road development activities expresses his feeling about help of road fixing. “Hello my name is Rithy, I am appreciated and happy for the road development and fixing.
